Just before cleaning the floor cover or carpet, one question that usually comes into our mind; how long will it take for carpet to get dry? The time taken by a carpet to dry depends on different factors. Under ideal conditions, it is recommended to keep off the floor cover until it totally dries which is however not possible. If this is the case, then wait for the carpet to get dry under as long as possible.
Normally, it takes fix to six hours for the carpet to dry if steam cleaning is done. Sometimes, time may increase with the number of different factors. If you prefer, dry carpet cleaning, then it takes less time to get dry in comparison to foam washing.
Now, we are going to discuss the factors which may change the drying time of the carpet.
Carpet material: The drying time of the carpet depends on the fiber used in the floor cover. If you are cleaning the woolen carpet that absorbs more moisture, then the drying time will be more as you need to completely evaporate out moisture from it.
Weather conditions: During moderate temperature, carpets when exposed to sunlight take less time to dry as compared to that in the winter season. If it is raining, it will increase the moisture level in the air, thus slowing down the drying time.
Dust and dirt: How messy or soiled the floor cover also play a key role in the drying time. Dirtier the carpet more will be the cleaning agent and agitation required for cleaning which presses more moisture into it. You will require more water to remove the cleaning agents from carpet and this, in turn, increases the drying time.
Ventilation: Proper ventilation in the building is mandatory for the carpet to dry quickly. If the building is closed and you put the carpet to dry, it can take a very long time. The moisture in the carpet can only be removed if air passes through in which is possible only with little ventilation in the building.
Keeping the windows open helps in drying the carpet quickly as the air moves directly into the carpet and evaporates water from it. You can also make use of Air conditioner to dry your carpet fast. You may or may not know that some air conditioners have humidifier function build-in which helps in pulling the moisture content from the air without affecting the temperature. Don’t forget to turn on the ceiling fan along with Air conditioner as this will help in throwing the air in all directions.
